JUN 05 - FRI ARRIVE WARSAW (WELCOME DINNER)
Arrive Warsaw and transfer to hotel. Depending on your arrival time you can start exploring on your own or have a rest before joining us in the evening for our Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant.
JUN 06 - SAT WARSAW (BREAKFAST)
Our tour today will start with the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which is located directly across from our hotel.
Continue by coach for a driving tour that takes us past the Palace of Science and Culture, the former Warsaw Ghetto and National Opera House. Stopping at Lazienki Park we visit the famous Chopin Monument and stroll through this wonderful green space to see the Palace on the Water (weather permitting). Return to the old town to visit the Castle Square and Old Town Square. Free time.
*Option to attend a free Sound and Light show this evening at the Multimedia Fountain Park at the foot of the old town by the river.
JUN 07 - SUN WARSAW – MAURZYCE – WARSAW (BREAKFAST, LUNCH)
In the late morning, we drive to the open-air museum of Folk Culture in Maurzyce, located on the outskirts of Lowicz.
Wander among the buildings representing traditional village life in the 19th and early 20th century. Enjoy a traditional Polish Sunday lunch (which must always include homemade “rosol”) accompanied by a colorful performance by a local song & dance ensemble.
JUN 08 - MON WARSAW – GIETRZWALD – GDANSK (BREAKFAST, LUNCH)
Leaving Warsaw we travel north stopping at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Gietrzwald. It is in Gietrzwald that the Virgin Mary appeared to two young girls in 1877. This is the only Church approved Marian apparition in Poland. Lunch at a local inn.
JUN 09 - TUE GDANSK (BREAKFAST, DINNER)
Today we explore Gdansk. We sail (weather permitting) to Westerplatte where the German invasion of Poland on September 1st, 1939, officially marked the beginning of World War II. Next stop is the Solidarity Monument, located next the European Solidarity Centre, a museum devoted to the history of Solidarity, the Polish trade union and civil resistance movement, and other opposition movements of Communist Eastern Europe. Visit the famous Gate #2 of the Gdansk shipyard. Quick ride back to the main town to explore the highlights such as the Golden Gate, the Long Market, St. Mary's Basilica, and Mariacka Street.
After the tour the afternoon is free to explore further until the evening when we meet again for dinner.
JUN 10 - WED GDANSK - SOPOT - GDANSK (BREAKFAST)
Today we visit Sopot, a fashionable seaside resort with the longest wooden pier in Europe. Enjoy a stroll along the pier and then explore the pedestrian street "Monte Cassino" with its many shops, restaurants and cafes as well as the famous Crooked House. Free time to enjoy the beach (weather permitting). Lunch on your own before returning to Gdansk for free time and overnight.
JUN 11 -THU GDANSK – MALBORK – TORUN (BREAKFAST, LUNCH)
After breakfast we leave Gdansk and drive to Malbork Castle. Built in 1406 by the Teutonic Knights, a German Roman Catholic religious order of crusaders, it is the largest castle in the world as well as the largest brick building in Europe. Lunch and then we continue to Torun. After checking in we meet our local guide for an orientation tour of this medieval town where Nicolaus Copernicus was born. Torun is truly one of the most magnificent historic cities of Poland, its Old Town is on the UNESCO list.
JUN 12 - FRI TORUN + EXCURSION TO CIECHOCINEK (BREAKFAST DINNER)
Torun has long been famous as a center of gingerbread so today we visit the Museum of Torun Gingerbread. Located in the building that once housed the oldest European gingerbread factory this is the largest gingerbread museum in Europe. It has the largest collection of wooden gingerbread moulds and is responsible for the most extensive research into the history of Toruń’s gingerbread.
In the afternoon visit Ciechocinek, a popular spa resort town know for the world’s longest saline graduation towers.
JUN 13 - SAT TORUN - SZCZECIN (BREAKFAST, LUNCH)
Today we are off to Szczecin, once the capital of the Duchy of Pomerania, Szczecin it is now the largest city in northwestern Poland. Located on the Oder River it is an important maritime port despite being over 60 km from the Baltic. The oldest settlement was established here in the 8th century on what is now known as Castle Hill. After checking in to our hotel the evening is at your leisure .
JUN 14 - SUN SZCZECIN (BREAKFAST)
Highlights of our tour today will include : The Chrobry Embankment, Pomeranian Dukes Castle, Philharmonic Hall, St. James Cathedral and the Old Town. After our walking tour you will have the rest of the day to further explore at your own pace.
JUN 15 - MON SZCZECIN – “CROOKED FOREST” - TURNAU WINERY - POZNAN (BREAKFAST, WINE-TASTING)
From Szczecin we drive southeast towards Poznan stopping near Gryfino for a first-hand look at the mysterious grove of pine trees here known as the “crooked forest”. Continue south to one of Poland’s most acclaimed wineries. Our visit will include a walk around the vineyard, a tour of the winery as well as a tasting of their wines accompanied by local cheeses. Continue to Poznan for overnight.
JUN 16 - TUE POZNAN (BREAKFAST, DINNER)
After breakfast we explore Cathedral Island, the charming Renaissance style Old Town Square with its colorful merchant houses, Fountain of Apollo, and the Town Hall, home to one of the most popular symbols of Poznan, the two rams butting heads on the clock of the Town hall. After our tour we recommend a visit to Stary Browar (Old Brewery) a unique shopping center with nearly 200 shops, restaurants, and cafes. Stary Browar is considered an architectural icon and was recognized as the best shopping center in the world by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) in 2005. In the evening, we invite you to dinner at a local restaurant.
JUN 17 - WED POZNAN – GNIEZNO – LOWICZ - WARSAW (BREAKFAST, FAREWELL LUNCH)
From Poznan we drive to Gniezno, a very important town in Poland’s history as well as the nation’s first capital. We visit the Cathedral which is considered to be one of the most important churches in Poland having witnessed the Coronation of Poland’s first five Kings. The church holds many valuable manuscripts as well as Saint Adalbert’s Tomb. From Gniezno we continue east to the outskirts of Lowicz to enjoy a family-hosted lunch by the ruins of Lowicz Castle. Return to Warsaw for your last evening in Poland.
JUN 18 - THU WARSAW – END OF TOUR (BREAKFAST)
After breakfast transfer to airport.
