SEP 16 – WED ARRIVE GDANSK ( Welcome Dinner)
Arrive Gdansk and transfer to our hotel – afternoon at leisure.
In the evening, we will get together for our Welcome Dinner to meet the group.
SEP 17 -THU GDANSK (Breakfast)
After breakfast we meet our local guide to explore Gdansk. We sail (weather permitting) to historic Westerplatte where the German invasion of Poland on September 1st, 1939 officially marked the beginning of World War II. From Westerplatte we board our coach and drive to the Solidarity Monument and the European Solidarity Centre, a museum devoted to the history of Solidarity, the Polish trade union and civil resistance movement, and other opposition movements of Communist Eastern Europe. The museum is located next to the entrance to the famous Gdansk shipyard. Next is our walking tour of the old town which will highlight the main sights such as the Golden Gate, the Long Market, St. Mary's Basilica, and Mariacka Street. Rest of the day is free.
SEP 18 – FRI GDANSK – GDYNIA – SOPOT – KASZUBY - GDANSK (Breakfast, Kashubian Dinner )
Today we will explore the tri-city of Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia. After breakfast we drive to the seaport of Gdynia and visit the pier from where thousands of immigrants left their homeland in search of a new life in the Americas. Next stop is Sopot, a fashionable seaside resort with the longest wooden pier in Europe measuring 511.5 metres. Free time to stroll the pier and explore the pedestrian street "Monte Cassino" with its many restaurants and cafes as well as the famous Crooked House.
In the late afternoon we will visit a Kashubian village museum and then enjoy dinner with live music and folklore.
SEP 19 – SAT GDANSK – TORUN – WARSAW (Breakfast, Lunch)
Leaving Gdansk today, we start our journey south stopping in Torun for a walking tour of this medieval town where Nicolaus Copernicus was born. Torun has long been famous as a center of gingerbread and is truly one of the most magnificent historic cities of Poland, its Old Town has been included on the UNESCO list. Lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to Warsaw.
Evening at your leisure or join us for a magnificent sound and light show at the Multimedia Fountains.
SEP 20 – SUN WARSAW (Breakfast, Dinner)
Today our walking tour of the Old Town includes the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Castle Square, and Old Town Square.
We then continue by coach for a driving tour that takes us past the Palace of Science and Culture, the former Warsaw Ghetto and National Opera House. Stopping at Lazienki Park we visit the famous Chopin Monument and then stroll through this wonderful green space to see the Palace on the Water (weather permitting). You are free the rest of the afternoon. There is an opportunity to experience a live piano recital in Lazienki Park by the Chopin monument at 4pm for those interested. Meet for dinner in the evening.
SEP 21 – MON WARSAW – LUBLIN (Breakfast, Lunch)
After breakfast depart Warsaw to Lublin. Historically a very important city, settlement in the Lublin dates back to the sixth and seventh century with the oldest historical document mentioning Lublin in 1224. Lublin flourished during the times of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (1569-1795). Upon arrival in Lublin, you will be acquainted with the highlights on a walking tour.
Lunch in the old town and after checking in to our hotel the rest of the afternoon & evening is at your leisure.
SEP 22 -TUE LUBLIN – LANCUT – RZESZOW (Breakfast, Dinner )
From Lublin we continue south to visit Lancut Castle, a remarkable aristocratic residence which houses a very interesting and valuable collection of horse-drawn carriages. Mid-afternoon arrival to Rzeszow. Free time until dinner which will be at the hotel restaurant "Stary Browar Rzeszowski" which is a working micro-brewery. Dinner includes tasting of local beers.
SEP 23 – WED RZESZOW ( Breakfast )
Half day city tour of Rzeszow including the Underground Trail. Rzeszow received municipal rights in 1354 and for many years the town was in the private hands of the Rzeszowski, Ligeza and Lubomirski families. The city truly started to boom from 1945, after becoming a provincial capital. The market square is surrounded by delightful town houses and in the center stands the eclectic Town Hall from the late 19th century. Afternoon and evening free to explore on your own
SEP 24 – THU RZESZOW – TARNOW - ZAKOPANE (Breakfast, Lunch )
Leaving Rzeszow today we continue the journey south to Zakopane at the southernmost tip of Poland .
We will break the journey for a stop in Tarnow for lunch. Arrival at our hotel late afternoon and the rest of the day is at your leisure.
SEP 25 – FRI ZAKOPANE (Breakfast, Dinner with entertainment)
Meet our local guide who will show us the highlights of Zakopane including the wooden chapel at Jaszczurowka, the ski-jumphill and
the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima. We will also visit the nearby village of Chocholow to see the traditional log homes. Enroute we
will visit a “Bacowka” where the local smoked cheese is made. Returning to Zakopane we end our tour with a cable
car (funicular) ride to the top of Gubalowka Mountain for a great view of the Tatra Mountains. After descending from Gubalowka
you have free time to shop the colorful open market. Afternoon at your leisure. Dinner tonight at a local highlander inn.
SEP 26 – SAT ZAKOPANE – DUNAJEC RIVER RAFTING – KRAKOW (Breakfast, Lunch)
After breakfast we depart Zakopane and drive to Sromowce Nizne to embark on our river rafting experience on the Dunajec River (weather permitting). This is a very leisurely & calm trip (definitely not white water so not to worry J ). Winding through the spectacular scenery of the Pieniny National Park we will be zig-zagging back and forth across the Polish and Slovak border. After our adventure enjoy lunch in Nowy Targ and then continue to Krakow. After checking in to hotel the rest of the day is at your leisure.
SEP 27 – SUN KRAKOW ( * optional excursion to Auschwitz/Birkenau) (Breakfast)
Our walking tour this morning will get you acquainted with this lovely medieval town. Highlights include Wawel Hill, Florianska Gate, and the Barbican. This 13th-century merchants' town has Europe's largest Market Square, with the Cloth Hall as its centrepiece as well as St. Mary’s Church. Afternoon at your leisure or, * we can offer an optional excursion to Auschwitz & Birkenau today,
Please advise at time of booking if you would like to participate. Cost of the excursion will be $ 60CAD / $ 50USD per person.
SEP 28 – MON KRAKOW – WIELICZKA SALT MINE & FAREWELL DINNER (Breakfast, Farewell Dinner)
Enjoy the morning at your own pace. In the afternoon, we visit the the Wieliczka Salt Mine, a UNESCO Heritage Site, that has been operating since the 13th century. An unforgettable attraction with underground chambers, grottoes and chapels all carved from salt. Afterwards, we go directly to our farewell dinner that will be accompanied by a colorful local song & dance performance.
SEP 29 – TUE DEPART KRAKOW (Breakfast) - end of tour.
Transfer to airport.
