NOV 29, SUN VIENNA
Arrive Vienna and transfer to the hotel. Due to various arrival times of guests and possible delays due to winter weather, today is at your leisure. Depending on your arrival time you have a chance to relax or start enjoying the Christmas Markets in Vienna.
NOV 30, MON VIENNA (Breakfast, Welcome Dinner)
On our panoramic tour of Vienna this morning we will drive along the Ringstrasse to see the most important historical sights, including the State Opera House, the National Museum, the Parliament, and the City Hall. A short walk along the Kartner Strasse takes us to St Stephen’s Cathedral. Free time to enjoy the sights, sounds and magnificent smells of a Viennese “Christkindlmarkt”.
In the evening we drive to the outskirts of Vienna to enjoy dinner at a “heurige” - a traditional Austrian wine tavern.
DEC 01, TUE VIENNA (Breakfast)
Today is at your leisure to visit the markets or you can prearrange visits to one or more of the fabulous museums or galleries in Vienna. If you prefer to stay with the group this morning, we will drive to the Christmas Market at Schonbrunn Palace. Free time at the market before we continue to discover one or two more markets as a group. The rest of the day is at your own pace.
DEC 02, WED VIENNA – BRNO - PRAGUE (Breakfast)
After breakfast we leave Vienna and head north on our way to Prague . We will stop in Brno for a quick orientation tour and then a chance to savour some local delicacies at the Christmas market before we continue to Prague. Late afternoon arrival & check-in.
We invite you to join us for a short walk to the Old Town Square to enjoy the evening at the Christmas Market.
DEC 03, THU PRAGUE (Breakfast, Dinner)
Today we start with a ride on a vintage Prague street car for a special tour that will take us past Republic Square (Namesti Republiky), Wenceslas Square ( Vaclavske Namesti ), National Theatre, and the Prague Castle (UNESCO site). We continue by foot to the Charles Bridge and across to the Old Town Square with its famous landmarks such as the Church of Our Lady before Tyn, and the unique Astronomical Clock from the year 1410. We will end our tour at the old town so that you can enjoy the rest of the afternoon enjoying the Christmas Market. In the evening we enjoy dinner with a lively folklore show.
DEC 04, FRI PRAGUE – DRESDEN – BERLIN (Breakfast)
Morning departure to Dresden. The Striezelmarkt in the centre of Dresden is one of Germany’s oldest Christmas Markets originally started back in the 15th century. Upon arrival in Dresden we will have a short orientation tour on foot and then you will have free time to enjoy the market at your leisure. We will meet in the late afternoon to continue our journey to Berlin.
DEC 05, SAT BERLIN (Breakfast, Lunch)
Divided into East and West for almost three decades, Berlin has an interesting and turbulent history. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 the city has undergone an amazing transformation into a very trendy and vibrant metropolis. During our morning tour today we will see highlights along the Unter den Linden Boulevard such as the Brandenburg Gate, State Opera House, and the Berlin Cathedral and Museum Island. We continue further to see remaining fragments of the Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie, and the East Side Gallery. Lunch and then the rest of the day will be free giving you the opportunity to further explore the city and its markets.
DEC 06, SUN BERLIN – BOLESLAWIEC - WROCLAW (Breakfast, Lunch)
From Berlin we are on our way to Poland. We will stop in the town of Boleslawiec where we visit a ceramic factory to see how the famous blue pottery is made. Lunch and then continue to Wroclaw for an early evening arrival.
DEC 07, MON WROCLAW (Breakfast, Dinner)
Morning sightseeing will start in Ostrow Tumski (Cathedral Island), this is where the city was originally settled in the 9th century by a Slavic tribe. From here we will walk to the Old Town passing by the University buildings and a stop at the Market Hall before continuing to the Market Square with its Gothic Old Town Hall. Here we will end our tour so that you may enjoy the Christmas Market. Rest of the afternoon at leisure. In the evening join us for dinner at a local restaurant.
DEC 08, TUE WROCLAW - KATOWICE - KRAKOW (Breakfast)
From Wroclaw we drive to Katowice to enjoy the Christmas Market, a perfect to stop to grab something to eat before continuing on our way to Krakow. After checking into our hotel please join us for a walk to the market square and a visit to the Krakow Historical Museum to view the stunning exhibit of Krakow’s Traditional Christmas Creches, or “Szopki”, one of Europe's most unique Christmas traditions. Spend the rest of the evening enjoying Krakow's magical atmosphere.
DEC 09, WED KRAKOW (Breakfast, Lunch)
Highlights of our morning walking tour will include, the Florian’s Gate, the Barbican, Wawel Hill and the Old Town area with its Market Square, the Cloth Hall, and St. Mary's Church. Lunch in the old town and then the rest of the day is at your leisure.
DEC 10, THU KRAKOW - KRAKOW (Breakfast, Farewell Dinner)
Enjoy your last day in Krakow at your own pace . Suggestions : Rynek Underground Museum, Schindler’s Factory, Wawel Castle, or we can help you arrange a visit to Wieliczka Salt Mine – please advise at time of registration if you are interested in Wieliczka as the visit must be arranged well in advance. Farewell dinner tonight.
DEC 11, FRI KRAKOW (Breakfast) End of tour - OR - extend your stay in Poland J
Transfer to airport for you flight home.
